2 Meat Lasagna

Ingredients

  • 2 boxes oven ready lasagna noodles
  • 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 1/2 lbs ground hot sausage
  • 5 8 oz cans stewed tomatoes
  • 2 2 oz cans tomato paste
  • 3 lb shredded mozzarella chees
  • 1 lb shredded parmesean cheese
  • 1 1/2 lb ricotta cheese (if desired)
  • 3 tbl spoons italian seasonings
  • 1 tbl salt
  • 2 tbl cracked black pepper
  • 1 tbl sugar

Cooking Instructions

In a large saucepan combine stewed tomatoes, tomato paste and 4 cups of water. Stir and bring to a boil, reduce heat and allow to simmer 1-2 hours.

Brown beef and sausage, drain and add to tomato sauce. Stir in seasoning and sugar remove from heat

Coat bottom of 9x12 baking dish with sauce mixture. Add 1 layer of pasta,cover with sauce& cheese. repeat until pasta is even with top of dish.

Cover tightly with aluminum foil.Pre heat oven to 375 degrees, Bake on center shelf for 1 hour, Remove and let stand for 10-15 mins.

Remove foil and cut into individual squares. Serve on plate with extra sauce mixture on top.

Recipe Notes

May subsitute vegetables for meat for a perfect vegetarian meal.
