Cooking Instructions

Bake white cake according to package instructions in a 13x9x2 cake pan. Allow to cool 10-15 minutes and poke holes in the cake about every 2 inches.

Add jell-o to boiling water, and stir to dissolve. Add strawberry soda to jell-o mixture and pour evenly over cake. Allow cake to cool to room temperature.

In a mixing bowl, cream together cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth. Add vanilla extract and fold in one tub of Cool Whip.

Crumble the cake into 2 inch pieces.

In a large trifle bowl, layer the dessert as follows: cake, 1 package frozen strawberries with syrup, 1/2 cream cheese mixture. Repeat layers until bowl is full.

Top with Cool Whip and fresh strawberries. Prepare to wow.

Recipe Notes

This trifle was created accidentally by trying unsuccessfully to transfer a very moist cake out of the pan. When left with crumbles, make trifles!
