APPLESAUCE CAKE from JOY OF COOKING

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 C Cake flour
  • 1 C raisins
  • 1 C nutmeats or dates (choc chips)
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 1 t soda
  • 1 t cinnamon
  • 1/2 t cloves
  • 1 C white or brown sugar
  • 1/2 C butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 C thick, lightly sweetened applesauce

Cooking Instructions

Sift a little flour over raisins, etc. Sift all dry ingredients together. Cream butter and sugar together. Mix dry and wet ingredients until smooth. Add raisins, nut meats and the applesauce. Bake in greased tube pan for about 50-60 minutes.
