Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
Slice bacon into 1/2 inch strips and dredge in brown sugar until thoroughly coated.
Crumple aluminum foil to allow for grease drainage and place it on a baking sheet. Lay out the bacon on this making sure not to overlap pieces.
Bake until crispy. Allow to cool and harden before serving.
It'll be the very first thing that's munched up if you bring it to a party. Guaranteed.

10/19/09 04:33 PM | Additional ideas for making bacon candy.Bacon candy is delicious, if made correctly. It is a very old recipe actually, and commonly served at the holidays by prairie pioneers. Here in TX, we add a bit of cajun spice to the brown sugar first. Works with a lite brown sugar as well, and a touch of Balckburn's butter pecan syrup, VERY small touch. Makes all the difference! |

10/05/09 12:22 PM | This is how I cook bacon all the time !I'm from the South. Around here, they sell brown sugar flavored bacon in the stores, so adding brown sugar to bacon here is not a new idea. We were doing it before they started selling it in packages this way. I've always added brown sugar to bacon in a skillet when frying. Makes it sticky but the flavor is great. I'm sure health conscious people will think this is a horrible recipe, bacon and sugar together, but we all have food that is bad for us every now and then. Men love this recipe; at parties it is the first thing they want to eat-meat. I even have a recipe for bacon cookies and guys love them. |
