Pig Meat is awesome

LOL. I love pork eceryway I have ever eaten it. That doesn't mean I eat it all the time. Moderation is the key. I have diabetes so I limit a lot of foods, but I deny myself nothing I want to try. I am type I brittle diabetic. My blood sugars are seldom high, I have excellent cholestrole numbers and no high blood pressure. I am 61 years old. I don't want to live to be ancient. My mom has dementia and I sure don't wan to have that. Exercise is key to good health. You can't eat half a pie, but you can have a thin slice. Learn to savor the flavor, eat it slowly, and you won't have a problem, especially if you take a brisk walk after dinner. This bacon candy is too good to miss.

Additional ideas for making bacon candy.

Bacon candy is delicious, if made correctly. It is a very old recipe actually, and commonly served at the holidays by prairie pioneers. Here in TX, we add a bit of cajun spice to the brown sugar first. Works with a lite brown sugar as well, and a touch of Balckburn's butter pecan syrup, VERY small touch. Makes all the difference!

This is how I cook bacon all the time !

I'm from the South. Around here, they sell brown sugar flavored bacon in the stores, so adding brown sugar to bacon here is not a new idea. We were doing it before they started selling it in packages this way. I've always added brown sugar to bacon in a skillet when frying. Makes it sticky but the flavor is great. I'm sure health conscious people will think this is a horrible recipe, bacon and sugar together, but we all have food that is bad for us every now and then. Men love this recipe; at parties it is the first thing they want to eat-meat. I even have a recipe for bacon cookies and guys love them.
