05/27/07 12:00 AM | Suppose to be FRESHI agree on the part of it being canned ingredients. However, they say research has been done that canned goods like tomatoes contain even more antioxidants than fresh. The reason being they were harvested at a peak time, thus higher lycopene content. I think that makes sense. It is also more convenient to buy canned tomatoes, which I do all the time, because they are always ripe and ready for me to use, and someone has already chosen a good quality tomato for me. No more wasting time choosing one. And they take a long time to go bad in cans, not so with fresh.
Also, about the recipe above, what fresh ingredients you want. Even fry your own onions if you want, personally, I like the convenience of the canned fried onions. And I do fresh fruits and vegetables, also. A good way is to frozen. Such as brocolli flourets, just defrost in your fridge or microwave. Drain, and serve with your favorite dressing, ranch usually. A new one I tried is Spicy Ranch by Hidden Valley, it's good and only a little spicy. Try it.
Well, thank you for whoever comes up with these recipes, it sure helps us homemakers be able to provide something fresh and different for us and our families.
Take care and have a good day.
