Fill a 4-5 quart dutch oven 3/4 full of water. Place unopened can of eagle brand condensed mile into pan and slowly bring to a boil. Cover and boil gently for at least two hours. You may need to turn the heat down to med or med-low. After two hours turn off the heat and let it slowly cool. This whole process can be done a day ahead.
After you have "cooked" and cooled the condensed milk you need to prepare the pie shell and let it cool. Whip the heavy cream untill it is stiff and holds its shape well. Keep in the refridgerator until time to assemble the pie.
Peel and slice the bananas. Open the eagle brand condensed milk and pour it into the cooled pie shell. It should be very thick and a darker cramel color. Add sliced bananas evenly over the pie. Top with the whipped cream and sprinkle the chocolate shavings on top. Chill before serving.
