Ingredients

  • 1 stick (1/2 cup) butter or margarine (not spread), at room temperature
  • 1 cup packed light-brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup coarsely chopped toasted pecans

Cooking Instructions

Heat oven to 325°F. Line an 8-inch square baking pan with foil letting ends extend above pan on 2 sides. Grease foil in pan.

In a medium-size bowl with electric mixer on medium speed, beat butter, brown sugar, egg and vanilla about 2 minutes until pale and fluffy. Stir in flour, baking powder, chocolate and nuts. Spread evenly in lined pan.

Bake 30 to 35 minutes until a pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan on a wire rack.

Lift foil by ends onto cutting board. Remove foil. Cut blondie in 9 squares.
