Braised Chicken Legs, Greek Style

Ingredients

  • 12 chicken legs
  • salt as needed
  • pepper as needed
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 cup onion, small diced
  • 6 garlic cloves, pressed
  • 1 cup dry white wine
  • 1 cup chicken stock
  • 1 cup tomato puree
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 6 sprigs oregano
  • 1/2 cup basil leaves, roughly chopped
  • 4 sticks cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg

Cooking Instructions

Saute the chicken in the olive oil until light brown on all sides. Remove and set aside. Add the onion and garlic, and cook briefly. Add the remaining ingredients, blend well, and bring to a boil. Return the chicken to the pan, cover, and simmer for 30 to 40 minutes. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper, and serve with rice pilaf or orzo (a small pasta in the shape of rice).

Great tasting and easy

Very easy to make and I got most of the ingredients from my garden. My husband thought it was great and the kids didn't make any faces.
