Ingredients

  • 1 wheel Double Cream Brie
  • 1 sheet Frozen Puff Pastry, defrosted
  • 1/2 cup Caramel Ice Cream Topping
  • 1/2 cup Toasted pecan slices
  • 1 Egg, beaten with 1/2 cup water
  • 6 inches Butchers or bakers string

Cooking Instructions

Place brie in center of puff pastry sheet. You may need to roll the pastry out slightly to make a larger square. Place pecans in caramel sauce and spoon on the top of the brie. Fold ends of pastry up and over and secure with the string. Fold top into decorative "leaves", perhaps cutting with sissors to get the look you want. Brush with egg wash. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes, or until pastry is puffed and golden. Serve with artisan crackers and slices of baguette. NOTE: If using a large wheel of brie, then two sheets of pastry dough and increase pecans to 3/4 cup. Add caramel sauce by the tablespoon until desired consistency is reached.

Recipe Notes

I have served this elegant appetizer to guests for the past 15 years. It never fails to impress even the most fussy of persons and tastes great.

I've made something similar to this several times and usually serve it also with fresh pear slices and sliced sourdough or any other type of artisian bread and YES it's always a huge hit...

An elegant appetizer!

This recipe is luscious. Each mouthful of melting cheese accented by salty roasted pecans and sweet caramel will delight the senses. Serve with artisan breads and crackers and great drinks! Bon Appetite!
