Brown Sugar Pound Cake

Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 cups butter, softened (3 sticks)
  • 1 1-lb box dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 5 eggs

Cooking Instructions

Preheat oven to 325*. Grease and flour 10-in tube pan. Combine flour, baking powder and salt in medium bowl. Mix well wit fork. Stir vanilla into milk and set aside.

In large bowl, beat butter with mixer at high speed until light and fluffy. Add brown sugar in three batches, and then add all white sugar; beat well after each addition. Add eggs one by one; beat well after each addition.

Add half of flour mixture and half of milk mixture. Beat at low speed until flour disappears into batter. Add rest of flour and milk mixtures.

Quickly scrape batter into prepared pan and bake 70 minutes, or until cake is nicely browned at the edges, springs back when touched lighted at the center and a wooden skewer inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan on wire rack or folded kitchen tower for 20-30 min.Loosen cake from pan with table knife and turn it out, top-side up, onto a wire rack or plate to cool completely.
