1. Preheat oven to 375F. Cream butter and sugar; add the egg and the remaining ingredients, except the almonds. Chill thoroughly.
2. Roll small pieces of dough into pencil-thick ropes. Shape into pretzels.
3. Place on greased cookie sheets and sprinkle with finely chopped almonds. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes.
