Cooking Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 degres. Cream the butter with electric mixer. Add the (uncooked) cream of wheat, sugar, baking powder and flour and mix well on low speed of electric mixer. Spread into a greased 9x12 baking pan. Bake for 1 hour. While cake is baking, mix 2 cups water and 2 cups sugar and 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice in a pot. Heat this mixture, stirring only until sugar is dissolved. Keep this mixture hot (on low heat) but do not boil. When cake is baked, immediatly cut into 2-inch squares in the baking pan. Pour the sugar/water over the entire cake; the cake will absorb the mixture. Serve when cold. Icing or frosting is not needed; however, a very small amount of any fruit syrup can be drizzled on top when serving. Syrups can be made by melting any jam or jelly.
