Fried green tomatoes

Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 c yellow corn meal
  • 4 eggs
  • 6 large Green tomatoes
  • 3-4 c cooking oil-never olive oil

Cooking Instructions

Slice tomatoes in thin slices but not too thin. prepare your dry mix, yellow corn meal,flour add salt and pepper,mix. in a diff bowl crack open 4 eggs and beat them with a wisk for about 3 minutes. Dip the tomatoe slices in the raw egg and then in the dry mix and lay on a plate. Heat your oil ,medium high. a slice should be flipped over asfter it begins tyo turn golden . the slioces should be removed before turning brown. this can be served hot with ranch dressing ,or put on a burger.

I always loved this special treat from the garden at my granny's house,she passed the tradition down from 3 generations and im proud to say i cook a great fried green tomato! :) i hope your familly will enjoy this southern classic too.love peace&

Fried Green Tomatoes

This is also how I cook mine and they are yummy! For a variation, I will dice the tomatoes and add jalapenos chilies, then go through the egg dipping and batter. Adds a zing, for sure!
