Ingredients

  • 1 lb Butter or marg. Do not shortening
  • 2 cups white granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs at room temp
  • 3 teaspoons vanilla or almond extract
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 4-5 cups all purpose white sifted flour

Cooking Instructions

Cream butter with sugar til light ad fluffy

add the eggs, one at a time and beat well, then stir in the vanilla

sift the salt, soda and flour

DO NOT BEAT THE FLOUR IN, BUT JUST STIR LIGHTLY TIL BLENDED

a cookie press and bake at 350 for 5-8 minutes til light brown. These cookies do not spread. Be creative and press in a nut or chocolate chip or candy before baking

After getting my Grandma's recipe book that is pre WWII, in her handwritting, this recipe was written ( along with a lot of others) on the cover. They are so light and buttery

These look good!

I would disagree with schl696. This is a recipe for traditional shortbread and it sounds yummy. Go Grandma!!!!

part of recipe is missing

What there is of it with the ingredients . It really sounds good, but it looks like some of it is missing. The person that submitted it should double check to see that the recipe is complete. I would really like to try it. Jan
