  • 2-3 t tablespoon Crisco or any other solid shortening (preferably butter flavored)
  • 1/2cu cup Milk

Cooking Instructions

Preheat oven to around 400-425 degrees F. Get a cookie sheet and spray with pam or some type of non-stick spray.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, crisco, and milk. Stir them until you have a nice doughy consistency that is not to wet and sticky and not to dry and flaky. If u need to add a lil more flour or milk, go ahead. You just want the dough to kind of hold it's shape. Make sure you blend in the crisco good as well.

Then take a tablespoon of dough at a time and "drop" it onto the cookie sheet. No need to get all dirty and get flour everywhere to roll out the dough to cut out biscuits. Thats not necessary. Just drop tbs size dollops of dough on the sheet until you run out of dough.

Put them in the oven and cook around 10 minutes. But keep an eye on them, and remove them when they turn a light golden brown.

Recipe Notes

I usually never measuring cups when I make these, so the amounts of everything doesn't have to be perfect. *You can also this same dough to make dumplings. You might just need a lil more flour. You just have to roll it out flat and cut out th

Perfect Base Recipe

Perfect compliment to the gravy. Although I did add 1/8 teaspoon of onion powder, garlic powder and ground up red pepper. This is the kind of recipe you can play with. Spices even add cheese if you wish. Rule of thumb with the cheese though hard grated cheese about one teaspoon per cup of flour.
