Honey Ham and Cheese

Ingredients

  • 4 slices whole-wheat bread
  • 16 thin deli-cut slices (7 ounces) yellow American cheese
  • 8 thin deli-cut slices (4 ounces) honey ham or smoked ham
  • 4 slices white sandwich bread
  • 1 tablespoon butter or margarine

Cooking Instructions

Top each slice whole-wheat bread with 2 slices cheese, 2 slices ham, then 2 more slices cheese. Cover with white bread.

Melt half the butter in a large heavy skillet over medium-low heat. Add sandwiches and cook until nicely browned on bottom, about 5 minutes. Turn, add remaining butter and cook 5 minutes or until underside is crisp and cheese melted. Remove to a cutting board; cut in half.
