Family Recipe

My husband's mother also made this dish minus the tomato sauce. It is his favorite. He thinks the is a classic. I don't like it but I make it occasionally for him.

I though were were the only mashed potato and hot dog family

I saw the recipe title and had to check it out. We would split the hot dogs put them in the baking dish, make mashed potatoes and mix with a can of drained corn and spread it over the hot dogs. Then top it with cheese and stick it in the oven to heat up. Now that I don't eat potatoes, this is one of the things I miss the most!

Comfort food!

Sounds like your mom was a very smart lady! She combined kid-favorite items like hot dogs and mashed potatos in a wonderful concoction and then topped it all with tomato sauce and cheese. I love it! Kudos to mom!
