Isis's onion,broccoli bake.

Ingredients

  • 4 pkgs,8 oz each pkg frozen broccoli cuts
  • 4 cups frozen pearl onions
  • 1/2 cup "I can't believe it's not butter",divided
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 tsp salt and pepper
  • 2 cups 1% milk
  • 2 3 oz pkgs light cream cheese,cubed
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup panko,Japanese breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup shredded lo fat cheddar cheese

Cooking Instructions

in lg saucepan,cook broccoli ini-inch of water until almost tender. drain.Cook onions in 1-inch water until almost tender,drain.In another pan, melt 1/4 cup butter,stir in flour,salt and pepper, until smooth. Gradually add milk. Bring to boil,cook,stirring for 2 min or until thickened. Reduce heat. Stir in cream cheese until smooth & blended. Spray a casserole dish w cooking spray, place broccoli and onions in dish. Add sauce,stir gently to coat. Melt the remaining butter,toss w/ both crumbs. Sprinkle crumbs and cheese over veggies. Bake,uncovered at 350 for 25-30 min or until top is golden brown.

My granddaughter,Isis, loves anything broccoli,but this is one of her favorites.
