Kentucky Bourbon Cake

Ingredients

  • 2 c butter (1 lb)
  • 2-2/3 c (1 lb) brown sugar, sifted
  • 4 c sifted flour (1 lb)
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 6 eggs, unbeaten
  • 1 c bourbon
  • 2 whole nutmegs, grated
  • 2-1/2 c large seeded raisins
  • 2 c pecans broken

Cooking Instructions

Cream butter, add sugar gradually, and work together until very light. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift flour and baking powder together and add to batter, alternately with the whiskey. Mix well. Beat in nutmeg, raisins, and pecans. Pour into a large greased tube pan. Bake at 300F for 2 hours, 15 minutes.
