1 Preheat the oven to 325F.
2 Cream the butter, adding the granulated sugar gradually, until light and fluffy.
3 Add the remaining ingredients except the egg whites and confectioners' sugar and mix until well blended. Fold in the beaten egg whites. Divide the batter between 2 loaf pans (9 X 5 X 3 inches). Bake for 1 hour. Sprinkle with sifted confectioners' sugar and serve with ice cream.
