Mama's Oven Fried Chicken

Ingredients

  • 8 Meaty pieces of chicken (thighs breasts legs)
  • 1 Quart Buttermilk
  • 3 Tablespoons Hot Sauce
  • 1/2 cup Italian Bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 Tsp. Seasoned Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Fresh Ground pepper
  • 1 Teaspoon Oregano
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 cube Margarine melted

Cooking Instructions

Mix buttermilk and hot sauce. Remove skin from chicken pieces and wash. Place chicken and buttermilk in large plastic bag or bowl and cover. Let marinate overnight. Mix dry ingrediants together and place in shallow dish or pie plate. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Drain chicken and roll in dry ingrediants. Place in baking dish in single layer. Drizzle with butter cover and bake for 30 minutes. Remove cover and continue baking for 30 minutes. Do not turn over! Remove from oven and let sit for a few minutes before serving.

I loved it when my mom made this when I was a kid! She served it with mashed potatos and green beans and we were always begging for more!

You Can't go Wrong!

You can't go wrong with this. It came out really nice. I had to slightly vary a few things but anyway still good. I'll be using this recipe again!

Comfort Food at its best!

This recipe is great for a Sunday evening family meal! Serve it along side sour cream mashed potatos and fresh green beans or grilled asparagas.
