Moong Dal Snack

Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole moong dal
  • 1 onion (finely diced)
  • 4 green chilies (finely diced)
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 tbsp red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tbsp turmeric
  • 1/2 tbsp cumin seed
  • 1/2 tbsp black mustard seeds
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 6 curry leaves
  • 3 tbsp cilantro
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Cooking Instructions

Cook moong dal in a pressure cooker until soft (preferably 3 or 4 vissils) Do not make it mushy. Drain the water and keep aside.

If pressure cooker is not available add the dal and 3 cups of water in a sauce pan and cook it until the dal is soft.

Heat the oil in the wok and add cumin, mustard seeds and curry leaves.

Add onion and chillies and saute them till onions turn into golden brown.

Once done add the cooked moong dal and saute them for a min.

Then add salt , turmeric and chilli powder. Fry all the above until the water is evaporated if any.

Enjoy the snack with topped fresh cilantro and a squeeze of lemon juice.

Add little less chillies and chili powder for mild taste level.
