Bring prime rib to room temperature. Mix salt, garlic, and any other seasoning together. Rub onto roast to make a pasty covering.
Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Place roast on 2" deep pan and place in oven. Immediately reduce heat to 350 degrees.
Cook roast for 2-1/2 hours at 350 degrees, remove from oven and tent with foil. Let stand for about 30 minutes before carving.
After some other attempts at making a good prime rib, this one was the easiest and best. I used a 7-1/2 pound boneless roast and it came out almost perfect. I got a lot of "WOW"s for this one.......It's a keeper.
