Place Milk in sauce pan and bring almost to boil, just until scalded. Remove from heat. Set aside to cool a little.
Beat eggs, add sugar, Lemon Extract and pinch of salt. Set aside.
Break up two slices of stale white bread into 1 qt. dish. [I corningwear] Mix in the raisns.
Add cooled milk to egg mixture and wisk until blended. Pour over bread and raisns and sprinkle nutmeg on top. Bake at 350 till knife comes out clean.
This was my Grandmothers recipe and has been passed down through the generations. Leave out the bread and you have a delicious custard pudding. We add fresh whipped cream to this when it's warm. My father loved it.
