Cooking Instructions

Core the cabbage and remove the outside leaves. Cut the cabbage into chunks and finely chop it in a food processor.

Transfer the cabbage to a nonreactive mixing bowl and toss with the vinegar sauce. Taste for seasoning, adding vinegar sauce as necessary.

WESTERN NC SLAW

THIS IS JUST ONE OF THE TYPES OF SLAW SERVED IN NC. IT IS SERVED IN THE WESTERN PART OF THE STATE. THERE IS ALSO SLAW SERVED WITH MAYO AND PICKLES.

Thanks for the Vinegar Sauce Recipe

Couldn't make the slaw without the sauce recipe. Thanks for someone adding that. Once I made the sauce the slaw was excellent.

Half Police Dog/Half Hot Dog (Daschund)

Wow, Now I'm really missing Slaw Dogs....Asheville, Maggie Valley area. My Mom's family is all from NC but I have been raised in Ft. lauderdale, Fl. If you say slaw dog here they think it's a new breed of puppies...(half police dog, half daschund) = Slaw Dog LOL

cole slaw

I was born and raised in NC and cole slaw is a must on NC bbq. If you don't have it, you might as well be in North Dakota!
