Please note you can also yellow cake mix for this, but I have found white to be the most appealing both to the eyes and tummy. Bake the cake as accoring to package, then while baking, mix the gelatin NOT as direxted, but mix with just enough hot water to ca it to thicken IMMEDIATELY. Time this just right as you do not want the gelatin to gel before you can it. Remove cake from the oven, then a fork or knife to poke holes into the top of the cake. Then, pour the gelatin on top of the cake so that it will drain down into the holes. This also makes the cake very aesthetically appealing! Then, top either the whole cake, or as I prefer, slice into squares, then top each serving with a dollop of cool whip. This is a great hit for both old and young alike!
