  • 1 Cup Skim-2%-Whole Milk
  • 4 Tablespoon Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels (
  • 1 Cup Grape Nuts or Generic Grape Nuts style cereal
  • 1/2 Cup Chocolate Sauce (
  • 1 Cup Heavy Whipping Cream (or Half & Half )
  • 1-2 whole, sliced lenghtwise OPTIONAL!!!!: Bananna(s), ripe..
  • 4 Cone OPTIONAL!!!: Waffle style Ice Cream Cones

Cooking Instructions

Have Chocolate Morsels, Cereal and pudding mix in the freezer until d. Keep other ingredients in coldest part of refrigerator until . If a stainless steel mixing bowl is to be d, have that in the freezer 10-15 minutes before .

I recomend a counter-top heavy duty mixer, ideally a Kitchen Aid or other semi-commercial model. Given the 25 years of service I have gotten from mine, and the half dozen hand mixers I have worn out before giving up on them, I would say the cost and slight inconvenience of storage and cleaning are MORE than offset by the long trouble-free life of a heavy duty mixer. Get the mixer out, plugged in and then get the stainless steel bowl (mine is 5.5 quarts, I believe) out of the freezer and begin.

put the 1 cup of milk in the bowl, put on a wire (whisk style) beater if available, regular beater(s) if not. Start at low speed and slowly dust/sprinkle the pudding mix into the bowl with the milk. When all is in there and mixing, a rubber spatula to carefully scrape any dry or clumpy mix off the side of the bowl. If there is not PLENTY of clearance between the beater(s) and the bowl wall at all times, stop the mixer while scraping. No in destroying a spatula to save a few seconds. Increase to medium speed for about 30 seconds. Stop and scrape again. Add the cup of whipping cream. Start mixing at medium speed 15 seconds, increase to the highest speed you can without the mix being thrown out of the bowl.

After nabout 2 minutes, the mix will get a fluffy shiny look to it. When it does, reduce speed to minimum stirring speed. Slowly add the chocolate morsels, mixing just until they are well distributed.

shut off mixer, unplug for best safety. REmove bowl, scoop mixture into four small dessert serving dishes. OPTION: waffle Ice Cream Cones, or your imagination and the contents of your cupboard to come up with other ideas.

OPTION: Slice ripe banannas and insert the slices with the pudding mixture. Then drizzle the chocolate sauce on top, sprinkle the Grape Nuts cereal liberally over the chocolate sauce. Repeat the layers of chocolate sauce and grape nuts if you are a real chocolate sauce fan. Refrigerate 20 minutes, or put in freezer for 15 minutes before serving.

Recipe Notes

Not a reduced calorie item! The "Sugar Free" ingredients can be used to make it a naughty but probably not coma inducing treat for my fellow diabetics. The Fat content makes it a VERY occasional treat even for those with no indications of heart
