Pepper-Cheese Twists

Ingredients

  • 1/2 package (17-1/4-ounce size) frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese (4 ounces)
  • 2 tsp cracked black pepper

Cooking Instructions

1. Heat oven to 425. Line cookie sheet with aluminum foil or cooking parchment paper.

2. Roll sheet of pastry into rectangle, 18 x 12 inches, on lightly floured surface.

3. Brush pastry with egg. Sprinkle cheese crosswise over half of rectangle. Fold remaining half of rectangle over cheese; press edges to seal. Brush pastry with egg. Sprinkle with pepper.

4. Cut pastry lengthwise into eighteen 1/2-inch strips. Grasp each end of a strip and roll ends in opposite directions to twist. Place twists on cookie sheet.

5. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until puffed and golden brown. Serve warm or cool.
