Prego® Italian-Style Pepper Steak

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 lb. boneless beef sirloin steak or 0 beef top round steak
  • 1 medium red or green pepper , cut into 2-inch-long strips (about 1 1/2 cups)
  • 1 medium onion , sliced (about 1/2 cup)
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder or 4 cloves garlic
  • 2 cups Prego® Traditional Italian Sauce
  • 2 cups hot cooked rice or spaghetti

Cooking Instructions

Heat half the oil in a 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat. Add the beef and cook until it's well browned, stirring often.  Remove the beef from the skillet.  Pour off any fat.

Heat the remaining oil in the skillet. Reduce the heat to medium.  Add the pepper, onion and garlic powder and cook until the vegetables are tender, stirring often.

Stir the sauce in the skillet and heat to a boil. Return the beef to the skillet and cook until the beef mixture is hot and bubbling. Serve the beef mixture over the rice.

Serving Suggestion: Serve with a Mediterranean spinach salad. For dessert serve peanut butter cookies.
