Prosciutto Bacon with Cheese Sauce

Ingredients

  • 6 slices Thickly Sliced Prosciutto
  • 2 T Olive Oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 t Parmesan Cheese (optional)
  • 1/8 cup Butter
  • 1/8 cup flour
  • 1 t salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3/4 cup Provolone Cheese

Cooking Instructions

1.Cut the Prosciutto into 1 inch strips.

2.Heat a frying pan to medium-low and spread the oil evenly over the pan.

3.Melt butter in a saucepan and remove from heat. (If it gets cold while your tending the bacon just turn the heat back on.)

4.Move the Prosciutto to the frying pan. Cook for 3-5 minutes on each side until crispy.

5.Whisk in the flour and salt until smooth.

6.Slowly add half the milk and stir until blended.

7.Move the saucepan back to the heat and stir constantly until it’s thickened.

8.Add remaining milk and heat till its boiling and cook for 1 or 2 minutes.

9.Add the grated provolone (now would be the time to add the parmesan to the sauce.) stir until cheese melts.

10.Pour cheese sauce in a small dish and serve with bacon hot.

Recipe Notes

If you want to add an almost italian spin to this dish, substitute parmesan for provolone.
