Sherry's chocolate-almond ring

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup chocolate chips
  • 2 oz lo-fat cream cheese
  • 1 11 oz tube refrigerated crusty french loaf
  • 1/4 cup almond paste
  • 1 med egg
  • 1/4 cup coarse decorating sugar
  • 1/4 cup sliced almonds

Cooking Instructions

Preheat oven to325. Coat baking sheet w/ cooking spray. In microwave-safe bowl,micrwave chocolate chips and cream cheese on high in 15-second intervals,stirring until melted. Unroll french loaf. Spread w/ chcolate mixture,evenly crumble almond paste on top. Starting at short end,roll up dough jelly-roll style. Place seam side down on baking sheet in ring shape. Pinch ends together. Brush w/ beaten egg. Sprinkle w/ decorating sugar. Using kitchen scissors, snip dough open in 8 places, to make wide slits, but don't cut all the way through. Sprinkle w/ almonds,bake foe 20-25 min, or until golden. cool before serving.
