Preheat oven to 400. W/ cooking spray, spray a 8-inch baking pan. In lg.,heavy pan over low heat, melt 8 tbsp butter and chopped chocolate. stir constantly. Remove from heat & stir in sugar, 2 tsp vanilla and eggs, one at a time. Blend in flour and dried fruits. blend well. Spread evenly in pan. Bake until brownies just start to pull from sides of pan, about 18-20 minutes.While they bake, make frosting: In medium bowl w/ mixer, beat the rest of butter and vanilla until creamy. At low speed, gradually add confectioner sugar and cocoa, alternating w/ milk., beating well after each addition, Until frosting is smooth and fluffy. Let brownies cool slightly and then gently frost and cut into 16 squares.
These are greatest when served a little warm. You can microwave for about 5-10 seconds to warm them if they get too cold. I loved the original recipe for these brownies, but decided to add dried fruit on a whim and they gave the brownies a totally differ
