Melt the butter with the garlic.
Snap the stem ends off the beans. Steam the beans, covered, over boiling water or cook in a large pot of boiling water until just tender, about 3 to 5 minutes, depending on size of beans. Drain, toss with garlic butter and seasonings, and serve immediately.
