Cream butter, add sugar gradually, and cream together until light. Add egg and beat well. Sift flour, soda, and spices together and add to batter. Mix in remaining ingredients thoroughly. Place in a greased loaf pan. Bake at 375F for 50 minutes. Do not overcook, as this cake burns easily.
