Soak bread in milk for 5 to10 minutes until the liquid is absorbed.
Add the onion, egg, lean ground beef and salt and pepper.
Mix all the ingredients together with your hands and shape the meat mixture into small balls, less than an inch in diameter.
If the mixture starts to sticks to your hands, wet them with cold water.
Heat a skillet and add butter and extra virgin olive oil. Saute the meatballs in 2 or 3 batches, turning them frequently to keep the meatballs from sticking. Drain them on paper towels.
Drain the excess olive oil and scrape off and discard any browned bits of meat that may be sticking to pan after the meatballs are done.
Add butter and flour and stir until it browns. Quickly add a can of beef stock and bring to a boil, stirring constantly until gravy thickens.
Remove from the heat and serve immediately with the meatballs.
For real Swedish Meatballs Lingonberry preserves, but it is optional

12/30/07 04:48 PM | Where do the flour and extra butter come from?Unclear instructions for ingredients not listed equals a poor recipe, desperately seeking editing by someone who knows how to cook. |

12/22/07 12:30 AM | swedish meatballs receipeon the video, it shows a sauce/gravy to pour over the meatballs, where is the recipe for that? I clicked on the instructions to print it out, but there is a few things missing. On the first picture, shows a red sauce, another video shot shows a light brown sauce, so which is which?
I will make my own swedish meatballs, where does it say to pour in the bread that had been soaked in milk, that is not breadcrumbs.
The website for this sucks! |
